A lovely ending, to a begining of a busy weekend . . .
or week for that matter. Camp meeting . . . lots of people. I'm finding the older I get, the more I like a little more solitude. Either that, or I prefer smaller crowds at least. Sabbath at camp meeting, when you are young, or not working at one can be such a joy and refreshing. When you work as staff, it's long, intense at times, stressful, and just not what it was when you're young and go to the meetings and sing about Jesus and make crafts and such.
I remember when I went to Oregon Camp Meeting, I was in Primary probably, and there was a song that was always sung with this puppet, Danny O'Day. Now it seems rather cheesy, but back then, my little 8 year old self loved it. And I loved the evening programs that had all sorts of good stories and singing . . . So as I was on my way over to the office for a few minutes to myself and write, I ran into a student of mine, who wasen't at his meeting. I asked him why he wasen't there, he said he didn't like meetings, and he played with his little portable video game. He's here, where he can be with friends, and family and do all sorts of awesome things, and he's playing video games. I'm not sure what that says for either the departments, or the family life, or what. Somehow, this week, I'm going to try and get him to a meeting in his tent, but maybe I should go over there so I can tell him what he's missing so he might get interested. Sooo, off I go to Juniors :)
